About Me

My photo
Today I watched my cat give herself a bath in my bathroom sink and when she noticed me watching her, she fell off the counter, but then continued to wash herself on the floor. Yesterday in the park, I saw a two-year-old boy fall and scrape his hands. He picked himself up, examined his palms, kissed them each to make them better, and then ran off to catch up with his mom. I love self-sufficient creatures.

I'm not dead, yet.

Thank you, loyal and yet understandingly frustrated, readers, for hanging in there and continuing to hit 'refresh' on my pathetically outdated page. I have no excuse except for the tiringly overused 'busy, busy, busy' epithet, but since I have no dependents (save myself) I don't feel I should be allowed to use the aforementioned reason...especially since my dear sibling is responsible for half the world (all right, just three, but still...) and yet, she manages to keep us up to cyber-date, as do our mutual friends.

That was one unwieldy sentence.

But, I digress...

Here are the Desha-headlines of the past couple of months:

  • I am no longer going to L.A. as of right now. I literally had one foot out the door, headed due north, when I was offered the job of General Manager at SDJT. I wrestled with the decision emotionally, logically, fiscally, and Spiritually and really felt I should stay here. So far, I think it's been a good decision.

  • The day after I started my new job, The Old Globe (cue heavenly harp music) called me to assistant direct one of their shows at the end of March. This is a position I've been jonesin' after for years, however, it is going to demand a LOT of time. So...please pray for me as I try to balance two equally demanding jobs for the next four weeks. I am still amazed at the timing: had I gone to L.A., I would not have been able to do the Globe (cue heavenly harp music) show. AND...not only do I get to stay in SD to do it, but the Globe (cue heavenly harp music) is 100 feet away from my current job, both theatres being in Balboa Park. Indeed, He moves in Mysterious Ways...

  • All quiet on the dating front. In fact, there are tumbleweeds.

  • And, finally, the real reason for updating...Emersen's First Birthday! It was a gala occasion resplendent with loving friends, family, butterflies, and lots of green frosting. I'll post a few photographic highlights here, but you can access the entire digital shindig here . Beware: I took, like, 500 pictures.

Edit: I'm having trouble posting the actual pictures, so until I figure it out, just visit my photobucket account link above. If you're still having trouble, contact me the old-fashioned way and call me.
